Currie Group Presents Epson by Appointment
Currie Group hosted a successful ‘Epson By Appointment’ event at its Melbourne showroom last week, showcasing the latest printer technology from the market-leading Epson range. Four private sessions were held on Thursday and Friday, with an informal ‘Epson Evening Shift’ event on Thursday evening.
Epson is the latest addition to Currie Group’s list of supply partners, and the latest iteration of the company’s now well-known event format was designed to introduce Epson’s latest technologies to existing and new customers, and provide them with knowledge and information to help them make critical business investment decisions.

In the company’s dedicated showroom were two brand-new print engines – the new SureColor S9160-64” large-format printer, which offers the highest colour gamut in the signage market, and the cost-effective SureColor S7160-64”– on show for the very first time in Victoria.
The new technologies were well-received, with visitors impressed with their exceptional colour accuracy, productivity and media versatility, delivered thanks to Epson’s PrecisionCore printhead technology and UltraChrome GS3 inks.

The company also had a range of applications on show to demonstrate the capabilities of the full Epson portfolio, which includes dye sublimation, direct-to-fabric, direct-to-garment and flatbed printers as well as the roll-to-roll digital inkjet range, and a Neolt Factory trimmer - just one of the company’s range of finishing solutions.
Paul Whitehead, Business Unit Manager – Sign & Display for Currie Group, said Epson’s wide range of technologies meant it could offer a solution to suit virtually any sign and display business.
Experts from Currie Group, Epson, ORAFOL and Finlease were on hand to assist guests at the Epson by Appointment event.
“Whether that’s sign writers, vehicle and fleet graphic and wrapping companies, including those who may have been using more traditional signage technologies but are looking to go the next step for their customers, there’s plenty of interest,” Whitehead says.“Over these two days, we’ve talked to print service providers who want move into offering some signage products, and sign and display companies who want to add to their traditional technologies and diversify their businesses further.

The Epson SureColor S9160-64" printer features the largest colour gamut in the sign and display space.
“When you think of wide-format printers you tend to think of signage, textiles and garments, but dye-sub for example can also be used for merchandise like coffee mugs, key rings, stubby holders and other applications. So, there’s a huge range of versatile solutions which allow businesses to offer even more products to their client base.”
The Epson product portfolio has, he says, ‘rounded out’ Currie Group’s Sign & Display portfolio, a vertical within the company which has grown exponentially over the past five years and now includes the EFI range of grand-format printers, and the Canon Colorado and Arizona printer ranges from Canon Production Printing, as well as the Epson printer range and a variety of finishing solutions.
“From a price point, Epson allows us to offer some excellent, cost-effective options which are great for businesses who are just starting up or who are dipping their toes into a new market, but importantly it also offers specialisations with some new technologies like eco-solvent, resin and dye-sublimation, which ideally complement our UV and UVgel ink technologies to deliver a really comprehensive application gamut.”

Importantly, all the company’s Sign & Display solutions are backed with Currie Group’s renowned technical support and service operation, which provides real peace of mind in a market where downtime means missed deadlines and lost business.
Whitehead and Currie Group’s new account manager, Jordan Brewer, ran the daily presentations, supported by Zeff Lowe, Business Development Manager and Warren Davey, Pre-sales Engineer, both from Epson.
Brad Sitlington, Regional State Sales Manager – Victoria & Tasmania and Eric Thai, Business Development Manager for ORAFOL, were on hand to provide expertise and advice on substrates, with their media was used for all the demonstrations, while Heath Burgess, Regional Manager (VIC/SA/TAS) Technology Finance from Finlease, was there to explain the special financing options which are being offered as part of the By Appointment event.
This collaborative effort is typical of Currie Group’s partnership approach, and its commitment to delivering real value for its customers, Whitehead says.
“Everyone who’s running a business knows how hard it is to get away from the office to do this kind of thing, so we need to be sure we are offering genuinely good value by not only running machine demonstrations but providing guests with a wealth of information they can take away and use in their business,” Whitehead says.

While the event may be over for now, Whitehead says the opportunity to see the Epson technologies demonstrated – and take advantage of the special Finlease finance deals – continues.
“We’re always happy to make an appointment to showcase our products, so if you’re interested in leveraging these innovative technologies to grow your business, please contact us.”
