Epson has officially launched its new water‑based digital label press, the SurePress L-5034, at Labelexpo 2025 on stand E35 in Hall 3 with members of the Epson Australia team also on hand to facilitate demonstrations and provide information to customers at the show.

In the label printing industry, there is an ever-increasing need for high-mix, small-lot production and quick turnaround times, and the shift to digital printing is accelerating. Through the SurePress L-5034, Epson further underscores its commitment to digital labels, and to offering print businesses flexible and more sustainable options to support their shift from analogue to digital printing.

The new SurePress L-5034 inherits the features of the previous SurePress series in a new, water-based ink digital label printing platform, engineered for higher productivity without compromising print quality, which makes it an ideal choice for label converters looking to increase productivity and operational efficiency.

The SurePress L-5034 also uses an advanced, newly developed six-colour water-based ink set (CMYK plus Orange and Green) which offers an impressive colour gamut and extensive Pantone coverage, meeting the stringent requirements of brand owners while adhering to guidelines for safety in food-related consumer goods.

As it is equipped with newly developed PrecisionCore printhead and optimiser liquid technology, the L-5034 delivers a native resolution of 1200 dpi, ensuring outstanding image quality for fine details, small text and smooth gradations.

By ejecting high-definition ink drops and controlling high-precision drop placement, Epson’s proprietary automated real-time nozzle verification technology (NVT) along with a nozzle compensating system ensure consistent image quality throughout the print run without any interruptions, further enhancing overall productivity.

The SurePress L-5034 boasts a newly designed automated printhead cleaning system, which minimises operator intervention and manual maintenance to maximise uptime and increase efficiency. Alongside the new cleaning technology is a sophisticated camera system, which enables automatic image quality adjustments when printheads are replaced, improving operational efficiency and maximising uptime.

For even greater versatility and reliability, there’s a robust web transport system, which can handle a web width of 340 mm and accommodate high capacity rolls up to 120 kg. This enables direct printing on a wide range of label paper and film materials.

Finally, the SurePress L-5034’s intuitive user interface makes operation straightforward, without the need for specialised skills or training. This makes it an ideal solution for existing print businesses looking to expand into labels as fundamentals such as file preparation and equipment operation principles remain the same.

The new L-5034 will accompany Epson’s other SurePress L-6534VW and L-4733AW at Labelexpo 2025 on stand E35 in Hall 3 and will be commercially available locally from early 2026.
