Hexis Daniel Gherini Apprentice Scholarship
The inaugural Daniel Gherini Apprentice Scholarship course was held in HEXIS Melbourne’s Keysborough Training Facility in mid-June.
After some deliberation it was decided we could not split the applicants, so we invited them all to attend. Ture travelled all the way from Karratha in WA to be joined by Abbey from Newcastle NSW, Akala & Seb both coming up from Tassie and local lad Lorenzo. Most arrived in on Sunday to be fresh for 4 days of intensive hands-on wrap and Bodyfence PPF training. They were joined by Patrick, also from Tassie along with Lumi & Hemsi and all took to the training with John Papadopoulos from Blurred Image with enthusiasm.
John was more than impressed with the level of commitment, questions asked and noticeable improvements made by all during the week. He commented that having a group of younger signage trainees was refreshing and great to see more looking to join the industry.
With the HEXIS PWS battle to be held at the end of the week Managing Director, Ian Parsonson took the opportunity to fly down early and share a dinner with everyone on the 2nd last night of the course. A moment was taken to reflect and raise a toast to Daniel’s memory.
With Ture loudly supporting Queensland in the ARL State of Origin series it was not the best of finishes for ardent Blue’s supporter Ian, he had to wait to get his own back in the decider. Thursday finished their 2 x 2 training and gave us the opportunity to say thanks to all for making time to come and learn with us and the good nature displayed through the week.

Chris from Wrap Craft Tasmania said, “It's great to hear they were engaged and got so much out of the week. They both came back with plenty of positive feedback, and we've already started discussing some of the techniques and ideas they picked up, particularly around both cast wrap and PPF applications."
Barney from Hunter Signs expressed his thanks for having Abbey, she returned with a fever for doing more Bodyfence PPF.
Lee Farrell, National Sales Director commented it was great to see so many companies investing in their staff after hearing from his customer.
“The hands-on training and knowledge sharing are invaluable, and it's great to be able to invest in developing the skills of our team.” This was evident from all the companies getting behind their apprentices to have them there and support their time away for the business."
