Auckland-based label printer LabelShop has partnered with Jet Technologies to install a Truepress Jet L350UV SAI, introducing inkjet production to its digital printing operations as it looks to increase speed and capacity. 

The new press expands the range of work LabelShop can produce digitally, providing additional capacity for jobs requiring fast turnaround while complementing its existing digital and conventional printing operations.

For LabelShop Operations Manager John Christie, the L350 builds on an approach that has long centred on getting work through the business quickly.

“Fast turnaround has always been important to us. Our approach has always been that if a customer wants it today, we want to be able to give it to them today,” said Christie.

“We’ve continued to invest in digital equipment, embellishment and finishing capabilities over the years, and the Truepress L350 is the latest addition. We have big hopes for what it can do for us.”

LabelShop selected the Truepress L350 for its high productivity, consistent colour reproduction and straightforward operation among the factors behind the decision. The press also gives the business greater flexibility to take on a broader range of label work.

“What appealed to me about the L350 is how quickly it churns through the work and everything is contained in the one unit. There isn’t a lot of pre-priming we have to do and it’s a simple machine to operate and makes our operators lives much easier,” said Christie.

“The display is straightforward and it opens up opportunities for us to do more outside work and bigger labels.” 

Following installation and operator training, the LabelShop team was able to get the L350 into production quickly, with Christie pointing to its simple start-up, shutdown and operation as a key advantage.

“Training went quickly and the installation team got everything set up. We’re running well now with no issues,” he said.

“Start-ups and shutdowns are easy and the process itself is very straightforward. There aren’t lots of menus to navigate around. You push play and it comes out the other side.”

The speed of the L350 is also giving LabelShop additional production capacity, with Christie saying the focus now is on bringing more work onto the press to make full use of its capabilities.

The installation builds on LabelShop’s established relationship with Jet Technologies, which supported the business through the press selection, installation and training process.

“I’ve always loved working with the Jet team. It’s been a great partnership we’ve had, and working with Jet has been a really good experience,” Christie said.
