Simon Reich podcast & its impending award announcement

Simon Reich, a prominent Letterheads pioneer and signwriter for over 30 years, has now branched out into a career in audio. He now composes soundtracks for movies and advertisements. For many Letterheads meets across Australia, he provided the musical entertainment.

Recently, Simon created a podcast about his father’s life in Nazi Germany and his subsequent immigration to Australia, called “Up from the Rubble”. It’s filled with ripping yarns and near-death experiences, including his dad hiding in a bunker, at the end of the war, only 50 metres from where Hitler shot himself that same day. Simon’s father Manfred, also lived in a home with one of the co conspirators who attempted to assassinate Hitler and was made famous by the Tom Cruise movie “Valkyrie”. Manfred had to flee for his life when the plot failed, and Hitler killed over four thousand people in his blood thirsty revenge.

The podcast has now been selected in the final five by the Webby Awards in New York. Now comes the public voting phase of the awards. Simon is really hoping the sign and display industry can help him out by voting for “Up from the Rubble”. It’s simply a matter of scanning this code & submitting a vote via a Facebook button. The competition closes on Thursday April 21st.
