Women in Print opens Board Nominations for Secretary & Vic/Tas Patron
Women in Print Australia has marked a significant milestone with the formal approval of its new rules of incorporation by the Registrar, with the association saying that the step strengthens its ability to support members and expand reach across the country.
The new framework provides greater flexibility in generating and applying income from activities to benefit members, while also opening access to grants and funding opportunities nationwide. It also gives the association the ability to launch a tiered membership model, so male allies can join the association.
The approval followed months of work by the Board to simplify and clarify the constitution, ensuring it was both easy to understand and fully compliant with legislative requirements.
“Navigating the technicalities of incorporation can feel daunting, but we were committed to making our rules clear, simple, robust, and future-flexible” said Stephanie Gaddin, Chair of Women in Print Australia.
“That work has paid off, and now we can focus on what matters most, building a strong, equitable and fair community for everyone in industry right across the country.”
With this transition now complete, Women in Print has opened nominations for two key Board positions: Patron for Victoria and Tasmania and Secretary.
Current role holders Rita Karagiannis and Irene Daws will step back but remain active in the organisation—Rita as Deputy Chair and Irene as an Ordinary Board member, leading the Sponsorships and Income Committee. The VIC/TAS Patron role is open to role sharing or the possibility of a dedicated Tasmanian Patron to ensure Tasmania’s representation.
Nominations are open to eligible Full Members and close on Sunday, 12 October. Nominees will then go into an election process, which will conclude with a Special General Meeting at a date to be confirmed. Members can submit nominations via the Member Portal.
With the organisation’s Print & Prosecco networking series continuing through October, the community is encouraged to attend and ask questions about the new rules or the nomination process with any of the current Patrons and Board members. Stephanie Gaddin will also be available in person at the Victoria and Tasmania Print & Prosecco events.
The remaining events in the series are scheduled for:
- Adelaide – 1 October
- Launceston – 24 October
- Perth – 30 October
- Melbourne – 30 October
Tickets are available at www.womeninprint.com.au/network , with discounted pricing available to members.
“As we head into a busy October, I’d encourage anyone interested in nominating to the seats to come along to an event and have a chat,” added Gaddin.
“Whether it’s questions about the new rules, the nomination process, or just a chance to connect, these gatherings are the perfect opportunity to do it together as a community.”
