PICA Celebrations Continue
The state PICA celebrations, organised by Visual Connections, have kept our events team busy navigating rolling lockdowns and travel restrictions, numerous postponements and re-bookings, so that these important awards can be celebrated across Australia.
We’ve been fortunate so far to be able to go ahead with the Queensland event, bringing the local industry together at the Tattersalls
Club in Brisbane on 23 July, and the South Australian event, which was held on 16 September at the National Wine Centre of Australia
in Adelaide.
It was fantastic to see an excellent turnout at both events, with attendees not only keen to hear the announcement of winners in the Printing Industry Creativity Awards, but also for the all-too-rare opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues over drinks, canapés and music.
Other State events in New South Wales and Victoria have had to be postponed due to local outbreaks and consequent gathering restrictions, while the West Australian event has also been postponed due to border restrictions which are hampering the movement of our events team.
As they have done throughout the pandemic, our events team has applied their creativity to the situation and, in cooperation with the event hosts, the PVCA, has devised a solution which will see the remaining Awards presented on Friday 5 November prior to the presentation of the 38th National Print Awards, bringing this year’s printing awards to a conclusion.
The presentations will take place at a sit-down gala dinner in Brisbane, which will be livestreamed to a satellite cocktail event in Perth. Melbourne and Sydney ticket holders will enjoy a novel ‘in-home’ experience, with a gourmet food and drink hamper delivered to their door, to complement the virtual celebrations.
